Fold it into the establishment? Is that a good thing? Perhaps you can explain. I hate that fucker for making me do math exams twice over. (And something about Iraq.)
Tony Blair is a corporatist neoliberal globohomo type. The labour party are socialists who hate neoliberal corporate shit because it's basically hypercapitalism.
Blair is literally on video explaining to the labour party that while they might not like what he has to offer, he can get them half way to what they really want. And boy, was he right about that.
Fast forward twenty years and Blair's immigration policies, Blair's welfare, Blair's crushing of small private businesses in favour big corps, Blair's hate speech laws, Blair's education plans - it's ALL still the status quo. Blair pulled the UK labour party a few feet away from socialism, but he pulled the UK conservative party MILES in toward it.
The UK hasn't had a conservative government since Blair. It's just had successive clones of Blair's globohomo government
If Meloni can pull off being a right-wing-Blair, then in twenty years Italy might have it's left wing parties sitting around wondering 'Do we really want more foreigners? We want socialism for Italians, and we don't want capitalists having cheap labour!'
Not necessarily a bad thing.
If she can do for the right in Italy what Tony Blair did for the left in the UK, that's a huge improvement on the current trajectory.
