that's true, but you can't isolate that variable without a better control. Right now the theory is "women in positions of leadership in entertainment produce unappealing work" and you've got lots of examples, N=lots, of the positive. But you also need a contemporary control, which is what Top Gun is. It can't be an older work, because there might be an unidentified variable--such as ideology or local culture which are interfering in the relationship.

So N(female) and N(male) are your dependency and control respectively. Good luck, if you actually get results, it would be shocking and well worth writing a paper.
