Its a foot in the door argument. They know you'll agree some stuffy is iffy, so that way its easier to get you to agree to action being taken. In which case they take away way more than just the iffy stuff.

That's why you reject it wholesale. If it exists, then it doesn't matter and it shouldn't be touched regardless.
