book 2 is about taking down the Montana huwite supremes militia, I'll bet season 2 will be crammed with talking points against 2nd amendment and conservatives/trump voters. lured you in with apolitical season 1, then bam muh racist huwites. it's all so tiresome.

The first Reacher book, Killing Floor, was published in 1997. This is the one the first TV season is based on. The second book involves a militia in Montana, and was published in 1998.
Militias at the time in real life were not necessarily racial in nature, despite what the media told everyone over and over again (imagine that, the media lied. Funny how they do that a lot...) , and while the book may have had them as white supremacist, the majority of the militias back then were not.
Now, given all that, I'm sure that the second filmed series, if they base it on the second book, is going to go full white power with the militia, because of course they will, but that doesn't necessarily match the book. I haven't read it, so I don't know. The summaries I read didn't go into it, and I can't be assed to read the book, as that sort of thing isn't what I like reading.
If you really want to do a deep dive into real militias, and unlearn the media propaganda, get the book To Shake Their Guns in the Tyrant's Face by Robert H Churchill. Amazon link
in the book it was mentioned in like one sentence, the rest are pretty much just action scenes and the main characters interacting with the militia are white so the militia members did not press that point. but if I were a subversive producer I would race swap the kidnapped general's daughter to black and have the militia kidnappers call her nigger in every scene and have them act as stereotypical red neck as possible and make everything about their political dissents about race
