I am not an American, so don't have a clear picture of how the situation is over there (does sound bad), or how likely it actually is for something like a Civil War to break out, but I am hearing about it a lot from all sorts of people.
On the other hand, nothing of the sort seems to be happening, even though the US is supposedly being destroyed, stolen elections, inflation, tensions everywhere, left and right seemingly incapable of coexisting anymore, immigrant invasion, LGBT shit everywhere, people's kids groomed everywhere, and so on.
If all this is not enough, then what will it take? How would it happen? Who would fight with whom?
Based on the fact that nothing has happened so far with all of the above, and more, it sounds like nothing will ever happen.
I think that an actual hot civil war is unlikely in the short term. Americans have this notion of a ruggedly individualistic colonist picking up his trusty musket and standing up against the oppressive British Crown but that’s mostly just propaganda. In reality, what kicked off the American Revolution was that a majority of the elites in the colonies supported the war and the colonies had the aid and support of the French government to win independence. Only about a third of the population supported independence. Similarly, with the civil war, a majority of the state governments in the South supported independence and the secession movement used that support to create the CSA government and wage war against the federal government.
The reason that I don’t see a hot civil war (as opposed to the cold civil war that we’re in the midst of) is that a majority of state governments haven’t come around to supporting secession. Furthermore, actual success requires support from at least one foreign major power and the only viable option is China, and I really do not see red states cozying up to the PRC. Only the UK, FR, RU, and CN are capable of force projection and RU is too weak after it’s disastrous performance in Ukraine. The UK and France have been captured by the same forces of neoliberal globalism that have captured the US federal government and would most likely fight for the feds than against it. And that leaves China, and red states are ideologically and economically opposed to China so that would make no sense.
Where are you hearing that Russia is having a disastrous performance in Ukraine?
