Imagine actively planning fatherless children.

I guess the idea is that this will allow them to send men into meatgrinders without worrying about the birth rate.

It's a weird fulfilment of old Hebrew law - except the original plan involved having a man's brother be the sperm donor, and the entire thing was a welfare scheme; a husband to support her while she was young, and sons to support her when she was old.
