Countries often have a national movie archive that is publicly avaliable.
( Though the platform to access it online, if it exists, often sucks. )
Having one for videogames has merit. But with so much crap, including a sea of shitty flash games, I hope they have a platform that makes it worth bothering to dig for good old stuff.
I recently tried to play an old game ( Astral Tournament ) that encounters a date error at start, likely due to the switch from 32 to 64 bit systems, and working around that is above my tech skills and the time and ressources I would put into trying to run it.
Old games now abandonwares that require a key verification from a server long-dead abound.
