Are they even, though? I'd bet that the creators see them as east asian, not white.
That's the thing about anime (and "animesque") art style. A character who is light-skinned could be seen as Japanese (or asian) or white. A darker-skinned character might be seen as being from Kyushu or Okinawa by a Japanese audience or something different by an American audience. It's why some kodomo (kid's) anime that came to the US in the 90s could largely get away with just saying the characters are in America (jelly-filled "donuts" aside).
So bitching about these characters being turned "white" or "whitewashed" isn't even accurate.
its a chinese game not japanese. But the characters are supposed to be from a middle eastern themed country , thats why twitter was so upset lmao. they thought the characters would all be dark. But as some turkish commenter on youtube put it, they dont actually care about middle eastern representation if they did they'd appreciate the middle eastern designs and details , but they dont, they just care about having black characters. Specifically african black. its all about worshipping black africans over at twitter
The middle east used to a be lot whiter too. Leftists are so historically ignorant they think the modern Egyptians are exactly the same as the ancient ones.
