I love that this guy tells someone else to 'read your history', when he doesn't know the first thing about history.
It was slaves who were counted as 3/5 for the purpose of representation, not blacks. Clarence Thomas is not a slave. But it's irrelevant, as a Supreme Court vote has nothing to do with representation. Also, the Constitution has been... amended, and the 3/5 clause is not even applicable anymore. Apparently, this jackass thinks that originalism means that you ignore amendments. No, you just ignore the amendments judges make without going through the amendment process.
Nor would he have been a slave if he had been around in 1787. There were free blacks back then.
Also, if you're black, you are required to agree with this white boy on abortion, or you are an 'Uncle Tom'. Also not sure what gay rights have to do with someone being an Uncle Tom. They really think that blacks are still their slaves.
I was about to make that point. 3/5 was a compromise because the slave owners in the south wanted to count their slaves so the south could get more representative power and the north said not unless they freed them so that was the compromise. Like you said that isn’t relevant anymore due to amendments.
I can’t believe people still throw around the 3/5 thing. Plus the constitution has a process to change and update.
Yeah, it's pretty crazy. By the standard of these 3/5 whiners, the slaveholders considered slaves their equals (because they wanted to count them as 1/1), while the anti-slavery people considered slaves ass nothing (because they did not want to count them at all).
For some, it's ignorance, but for others, I'm sure it's just their eternal grievance-mongering.
