I checked out some of my favorite youtubers to see if the Kenobi leaks were true and I guess I shouldn't be surprised they were. I cancelled Disney plus a while back and decided to stick with pre-Disney Star Wars like episodes 1-6 and the EU/Legends.
I guess at one point I would've been surprised that Leia would feature so prominently but now it is pretty obvious that writers today cannot write a female character to save their lives. Every female has to be shoehorned in so they can show how much better than men they are. Also they knew that Reva would make viewers roll their eyes so they had to play the race card again. I mean the formula for Disney is pretty obvious now. Market a show based on a male character, only to have that show be all about a much more capable female.
There was a book called Kenobi written by John Jackson Miller where Kenobi is watching over Luke from a distance and trying to keep a low profile but gets involved in a conflict between the local farmers and Tusken Raiders. Definitely would've made more sense from a lore perspective.
I'm still ashamed that when I heard that Disney bought Star Wars I thought they could do good things with it. I thought that they would adapt the EU. When they wiped that out I figured they could've at least used it for streaming content by doing a NJO animated mini series like how DC has animated movies in an alternate timeline. Then I learned that they threw out GL's outline too.
I gave their books a chance and read the awful Aftermath trilogy and I even liked mandalorian but I liked it less once I realized that everything was headed to the sequel trilogy (I stupidly let myself believe they would retcon it).
Like I said, there is a lot of EU content I haven't checked out yet like the Old Republic books and comics.
For some additional content - The Clone Wars (both the 2D and CG Cartoon Network series) was excellent and Rebels was good. But Rebels is as far as I go with Disney's Wars - none of which I count as canon. Frankly, most of it is unwatchable. I've never even seen The Rise of Skywalker. If you had told little me that I wouldn't even go see a Star Wars movie...
I enjoyed both clone wars. I watched rebels before cancelling Disney plus. I remember leaving the theater after Rise of Skywalker (promised my nephew I’d take him two years prior) thinking this was the best they could do?! They threw out the Lucas outlines and EU for that?!
The Bad Batch was interesting too.
