Wow, that looks weird in modern transliteration.
gyne/gynaikos will look a lot more familiar to people.
it definitely doesn't end in "os", that's for sure. The modern greek word for woman/wife is η γυναικα. I left the stress marks off, but the stress is on the second syllable. I chose to use Y for the gamma instead of G because the greeks palatalize gamma when it precedes an "i" or "e" sound, which sounds like yee-NE-ka to english ears.
