I see no reason why, without using even very sophisticated conditioning techniques, this couldn't be done in an afternoon, let alone a month. There's no barrier to entry, and all cultural influences push in only one direction.
I don't think you could convince normal healthy people with a healthy family relationship at all.
With someone vulnerable to it, I think it's still going to take some time if your access to them is via online and not in person.
This is what almost everyone who eventually became indoctrinated into a cult thought as well. Then their healthy families have to go hire private heavies to get their normal healthy family member back.
Also, in this case: Who's to say the influence was online? His mom's a nut, and they're rich. They've probably been buzzing with servants and assistants and hangers-on for years.
