This is what happens when these people aren't bullied. Most people don't give a shit about other people. Maybe for family they'll be more tolerant, but for strangers apathy is the norm. And in a "diverse" society like one where everyone is flying their own flag above that of their country, suspicions is the norm. So yes, people will be cold and distant even more so because you're stepping out of line.
