Excellent movie! Honestly it was like watching a movie made in the late 90's/Early 00's when you could have masculine and feminine characters. I also want to get Amleth. If it is a book that one can buy. I bought Hamlet but that is one of the few popular Shakespeare plays I haven't read. I will read that soon as well. But for someone who is very down on modern day entertainment it is a pretty big deal for me to enjoy a modern day movie.

Eggers is an excellent director and this is another good-looking, solid movie, low on bullshit or ideology, but I still think it's his weakest so far. The main guy's charisma is lacking and it's just a bit too simple. Really it just made me want to rewatch Conan. Still worth the watch.
Also worth the watch is Harakiri (1962) which I watched last night.
Thanks! I have a lot of Conan comic books and the complete Robert E Howard stories. A good Conan movie today would be awesome but yes I want to rewatch the 80s one
Did you ever end up reading any Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser stories by Fritz Leiber after I recommended them to you? Just curious what you thought of them if you did end up reading them.
It’s on my list. Unfortunately I have a very long list of books to read but I remember and will read them. I’ve heard good things about it.
I understand about an unfortunately long list of books to read. To possibly add to it, Clark Ashton Smith's short stories, especially his Zothique cycle, are like a strange middle ground between his friends and peers REH and Lovecraft.
