That said does content clearing require full upgrades or is that just something in there to monetize autism? I play occasionally genshin impact and fully upgrading 5* characters requires tons of money but playing through all the story content works perfectly well with just what you get for free.

I haven't paid shit and beat the story mode and I'm at paragon 4 and haven't hit any sort of wall
