You actually bring up a really, really good point about Queen Elizabeth. Partially just because of how long she's been alive, but has any "Ruler" ever, ever witnessed such a utter, thorough, and predictable downfall of a nation? Rome crumbled after centuries of stagnation and retardation, Japan didn't expect Americans to develop uber missiles nor how gladly and rapidly FDR threw Americans into the bottom of the Pacific, Spain was filled with internal strife and external armies, Germany's time of being on top of the world was so brief as to be a sneeze in history books, but England had found a world where most guns are laid down. Sure, after two utterly sadistic experements with how many humans can you throw into a blender that was new 1900's technology with and without preparation, England's stance on the global world was riddled with bombed out churches and villages filled with graves, but once a peak ends you're expected to wait a little longer before you completely die out, such as France being deep in starvation before the Revolution. But Elizabeth became the head in 1952, the same year the West declared Communism to be a horrific cancer that needs to be utterly wiped off the ground, and today the closest thing that remains to an English export of English people is reruns of Monty Python. The cities are overrun, the government is a joke, the culture is beaten into the ground, and mere mention of the nation is met with derision from all spectrums of the political compass.
And yet, The Queen is the only ruler who seemingly isn't the leftest of the left that you can complement and not be exiled. The only other "Right wing" politicians you can say nice things about are George "My daddy sold his soul and my family's soul to the Devil so that we can justify war and say Orange Man Bad" Bush and Mitt "I turn traditional religious votes into a straight blue voting record and threw for Obama" Romney. I feel like, on some level, the Queen likewise has sold out her people. She watched the empire crumple on the outside and also the inside, but people kiss her feet like Princess Dianne. When she dies there will be a power vaccum that will undoubtably be filled with some Indian being declared the official world face of England and mark the official death of the English in history, much like the death of the Romans and the Carthaginians. But Elizabeth allowed it to happen to make her mark as someone who will be praised after passing.
I don't think she will be praised. The queen of decay.
