A few died, the rest got captured but released. That did happen.

Classic “fact checking” by jester. The actual story being widely circulated was that the Ukrainian soldiers on the island were all heroically killed for defying Russia. The truth is a few died, most were captured and released. So no, “that” didn’t happen.
