Does anyone remember when Ars was good? Or am I just wearong rose-coloured glasses?

Nope, Ars used to be great back when it produced articles like this. It got steadily worse in the late 2000s as it got watered down for a wider audience, really started getting political around the time GamerGate happened, and totally shit the bed in 2016.
