Gabe Newell hardly cares about anything outside his own pleasure anymore. He leaves almost all the business decisions and grunt work to others. Sometimes he makes directions or corrects people, but it's uncommon from what I've read and heard.
The people under him, however, are mostly raging leftists with a few old guard sticking around to hold things together. Most of those older employees as I've heard are basically dedicated to the steam system itself and operate outside the chair shuffle shit.
Valve is a really strange company and I'm surprised it is holding together. Once Gabe is gone there's gonna be some serious issues unless he's already trained and selected a successor.
