I guess that's why conservatives lose, because they "stay in the center" and hold a line that is progressively moved to the left decade after decade. There's no right wing in America pushing equally in the other direction, so the middle continues to move leftward steadily. A conservative today would be considered a liberal in 1950, and today's liberal in 1950 would be sent to a mental asylum for being fucking insane.
