Jets are nice, but they do require highly trained people to use them. Do the Ukrainians have too many pilots and not enough jets? Or is NATO just sending jets, the way Oxfam liked to send tractors to people with no access to gas stations?
There are always more pilots than planes on any airforce. And these are MiG-29s, with the exception of the updated systems, they should be relatively familiar with the aircraft requiring minimal training. They won't be able to get most of the plane and its updates. But in a situation of desperation, every little bit helps.
