They did, but it was incredibly tame and easy to write out at the end of every episode for status quo. Apparently part of the bullying David Yost received was them deliberately giving his character the most love interests to mock him being gay.

But, like most of the daily lives plots nobody cared or remembers it now because the non-ranger parts of MMPR are god awful and that has only marginally changed since.
