Yeah - I used to watch his videos when I was a bored teenager. He was funny and kind of edgy for the time. Then YouTube went more mainstream and better content started to become available and the world moved on a bit to the various populist uprisings against the system with wikileaks, arab spring, Snowden and a new phase of the culture wars. The internet atheist community was completely subverted and destroyed by social justice and feminists before they came for gaming and we had gamergate.
I've been an atheist most of my life but I normally used to end up in arguments with the internet fedora atheist types. For a start an awful lot of them leaned socialist where as the early YouTube era was where I got introduced to Ron Paul and Libertarianism and Austrian economics even if I was pretty anti-war and couldn't stand people like president Bush and his supporters who thought destroying the middle east and killing a million Iraqis was "gods command" but an awful lot of the people who thought that was stupid were willing to place their faith in Karl Marx instead of Jesus. Fundamentally thinking is hard whatever label people put on themselves.
Most of the internet atheists from that era were bottom feeders. There was a guy TJ palled around with for a few years called "FakeSagan" who was a nutter. They did a livestream on blog TV to raise money for something once and FakeSagan got drunk and started waiving a gun around that I'm not sure he realised was loaded. Including pointing it at people and putting it to his own head and begging people to donate. He then cut himself with a knife for a donation and had to go to the ER to get stitches.
TJ had his videos produced by some weedy little waster called Cody for a time who was a useless hanger on and dope smoker who was a waste of space and they had a falling out.
Fakesagan had a girlfriend who had been fucked by this other internet atheist cringe lord who made a sex tape of it and it leaked.
You had the "Four Horsemen" movement for a while with Dawkins, Hitchens, Dannet and Harris. Dawkins is a tragic figure really - losing one of the great evolutionary biologists of the era to the god debate was a waste. Hitchens in fairness was an absolute raving drunk who like his bother has contempt for just about everything who I'm convinced would be on our side today for the most part. Sam Harris used to annoy me back then. I think he's an intellectual midget who hops onto fads to promote himself and I think sooner or later as a fucking white male he will get cancelled from the mob he is currently trying to appease.
PZ Meyers - don't know what happened to him. I think he lost his shit when Gamergate happened.
