Canada's capital city is now under martial law. Police have ordered MPs off of Parliament Hill. They have ordered peaceful trucker protesters out of the city, and are arresting them en masse. And now the police are ordering journalists not to record their crackdown.
I could see a revolution working with an extremely determined 10-20% of the population trying to take over and risking death in the process.
We're not at that level. How many protesters are there? A few thousand at best? Let's say 8,000. That's including old men, women, and children. That's 0.02% of the Canadian population. Even Canada's pitiful military is about 67k people. Their police number at around 100k.
The best they can do is deliver a message, and blockade economic choke points for a while. If they took over parliament or killed people, they would last a lot less than two weeks.
IRA membership during the height of the troubles was estimated at 10,000.
You can absolutely cause serious shit with those numbers. The peaceful majority are irrelevant.
