So as we all have seen that the Amazon LOTR based show will go down the usual representation route which wasn't a surprise. I have to admit I foolishly thought they would respect Tolkein's legacy when I first heard of this project but that was foolish. Also when they fired the lore expert that was a major red flag.
I am getting sick and tired of entertainment saying the whole "reflect the modern world" or "reflect modern society" BS. LOTR has always been for anyone who wanted to read it, and it has been translated into many languages. I remember someone once got mad at me for saying that if you need to see yourself represented in everything, then you have a problem because you can go online and look up anything or read a book on a famous female, black, Asian, latino, etc. scientist, doctor, or whatever if that is so important to you. Why shows have to cater to these morons is beyond me.
Of course Wheel of Time suffers from the same problem. In the books they meet people of different races once they go out into the larger world and women in power are all over the books but that isn't enough.
As for lgbt stuff, I have said for years... get your own channel and write your own stories if you insist that lgbt content needs to be in everything. I remember Nerdrotic responded to someone who said that not everything has to have straight people, and he said that is true but not everything needs to have gay people and in a larger point not everything has to have everything in it.
Honestly I wish they would just stop crapping on source material of much better writers than they could ever be. They should start adapting the garbage that wins the Hugo and Nebula awards.
Sorry for the rant, just so tired of it, but thankfully I have mountains of books. They can't take those away.
Yea there are so many older books, comic books, and shows to explore
I made an exception with Snyder Cut because I was following up on the Man of Steel saga but otherwise I rarely watch anything hollywood makes these days.
Many good films in the 40s-90s to enjoy. One I rather enjoyed recently was Fantastic Voyage with Raquel Welch.
I enjoyed Snyder Cut as well. I’m also learning about old British shows. BBC is very woke now hit classic shows are good. I need to see Fantastic Voyage
