So as we all have seen that the Amazon LOTR based show will go down the usual representation route which wasn't a surprise. I have to admit I foolishly thought they would respect Tolkein's legacy when I first heard of this project but that was foolish. Also when they fired the lore expert that was a major red flag.
I am getting sick and tired of entertainment saying the whole "reflect the modern world" or "reflect modern society" BS. LOTR has always been for anyone who wanted to read it, and it has been translated into many languages. I remember someone once got mad at me for saying that if you need to see yourself represented in everything, then you have a problem because you can go online and look up anything or read a book on a famous female, black, Asian, latino, etc. scientist, doctor, or whatever if that is so important to you. Why shows have to cater to these morons is beyond me.
Of course Wheel of Time suffers from the same problem. In the books they meet people of different races once they go out into the larger world and women in power are all over the books but that isn't enough.
As for lgbt stuff, I have said for years... get your own channel and write your own stories if you insist that lgbt content needs to be in everything. I remember Nerdrotic responded to someone who said that not everything has to have straight people, and he said that is true but not everything needs to have gay people and in a larger point not everything has to have everything in it.
Honestly I wish they would just stop crapping on source material of much better writers than they could ever be. They should start adapting the garbage that wins the Hugo and Nebula awards.
Sorry for the rant, just so tired of it, but thankfully I have mountains of books. They can't take those away.
I’m mostly black. Sorry you feel that way. You’re free to believe as you want of course.
Cheers. Like I said it’s your life. I tend to hang out with people who are Christian and more traditional minded for friendships.
I tend to hang out with Christians/more traditional minded people but I try to get to know people but I definitely respect someone’s wishes if they choose to associate with their own race.
there's based blacks. their culture was consooomed by hollywood and govt. bringing back to morals, they will be more traditional and reasoned without those influences.
Do not listen to that guy he seems like an actual racist. Unfortunately all the BLM, affirmative action and forced diversity has created a lot of those. There is a reason why white-supremacists wanted Biden to win.
One thing I like about this group is that I get honest opinions. He was being honest with me, and while I am someone who will make friends with anyone (though my close friends tend to be more traditionally minded Christians like me regardless of race) I would never want to force him to be around those he doesn't want to be.
You are right that all those things you mentioned has made things much worse. I remember growing up in the 80s and 90s and we didn't constantly talk about race like they do now. One thing that annoys me the most is how young black people who never experienced any of the things they constantly talk about (slavery, Jim Crow, etc.) never get any pushback. People just accept their word for things. Forced diversity and the idea that something isn't good unless it is diverse (of course never diversity of thought) is ruining entertainment for sure and poisoning society.
Choosing your friends based on shared values makes stronger bonds than choosing your friends based on shared skin color.
