paypal does literally nothing unique anymore. they were propped up by being the ONLY valid electronic payment for ebay, when ebay wasn't complete garbage. now ebay has been overrun by fixed price sales, and everything else moved to facebook marketplace. it's just another avenue for the same trash being sold on amazon, but now you have to wait longer to get it.
there are now dozens of players in the electronic payment space, and crypto on top of that.
add on shit tier customer service, censorship, seizure of funds, and countless other problems, and anyone with a pulse could have seen this coming.
I have sometimes entertained the pie-in-the-sky thought of Twitter or Google shutting down overnight and what would happen, but from what you are saying it doesn't sound like the death of Paypal would do anything. I might disagree as there are a few tiny storefronts I know who only accept Paypal.
if paypal disappeared today, the storefronts would be switched over to stripe or square or one of the million other storefront processors.
yeah, the filings to adjust it from WEI to capital gains is fucking retarded. i'm not a business... anything i'm selling on ebay is very likely at a loss. it's bureaucracy for money, nothing more, nothing less.
