A reminder, too, of the obscene size of that building…
It is almost certainly one of the largest, “most secure” parliament buildings in the entire world…
It is literally 10 times the size of the old one (which these protesters burned, a few weeks back), and probably utterly dwarfs the Capitol Building, Houses of Parliament in Westminster, and pretty much anything outside of Versailles, the Reichstag and the Hungarian Parliament Building…
Oh, and Erdogan’s new “presidential palace”, in Turkey, naturally…
It is, in a word, an absurd vanity project. From a supposedly “conservative” government… 🙄
When it was built in the 80s, it was one of the most expensive buildings ever built, in the history of the world, and blew both budget and cost. And has since been found to be hardly fit for purpose.
An absolute waste. An entire hill carved out. For that. When they could have built a smaller, but entirely adequate one, somewhere else. Or just expanded/extended the old one, at like a tenth of the cost.

Fucking abhorrent. 👎🏼
