I disagree with the clearly silly idea that there are movies that only intelligent people can enjoy.

There are zero "intellectual" movies.

The entire idea of movies is to by-pass the higher thought patterns, access the limbic responses (typically through sex and violence), and insert ideas uncriticized.

The fact that film passes quickly, combining pictres and words means that - unlike when one reads - one does not (or very few do) put a film aside and enter into a dialogue with it or challenge its presuppositions. And one cannot read at one's pace or "re-read" parts of a film as one proceeds. These qualities are what make tv and film the supreme vehicles for propaganda.

And this is without even mentioning that few people are aware of the techniques that are used in film to influence how we perceive characters and situations - in a most emotional, non-intellectual way.

Movies and tv are inherently anti-intellectual.
