The BBC said in its reporting of this story that a slur about Muslims could be heard from inside the bus

It is always appropriate to use a racial slur when being attacked, regardless of the races involved.

A very good point - when being attacked - we all use any words we can.

It’s like the right of self defense? You can retaliate and defend yourself.
