I was over my parents house earlier and they were watching a hallmark movie and it was one of the new ones, and in it the female protagonist was talking to two ladies who I thought were her friends, but they were a couple. I know hallmark had a movie already where they had two men as one of the side couples which I guess I'm not surprised since they bent the knee ever since that whole commercial. My parents stopped watching it. They are very religious and I am a Christian as well (not a perfect Christian but I try). I believe the Bible speaks against lgbt along with thousands of other things, although I believe people should live how they want as long as they aren't hurting anyone and especially in todays climate I wouldn't talk to a gay person about they Bible unless they wanted to have a theological discussion.
I used to think my parents were going overboard because they stopped watching shows with gay characters. I didn't mind a gay side character here or there and even watched Torchwood (fast forwarded through romantic scenes). Now I've reached a point that I'm so tired of "representation" with lgbt, black people (the ones that peddle the everything is racist nonsense), females, and usually any show with hispanics nowadays has to push open borders. I will say that the best gay character I've seen would probably be Warehouse 13, but that was before you were constantly inundated about the need for "representation".
I guess I was disappointed with Hallmark because they took flack for quite a few years and didn't change. It is annoying that such a small group demands so much representation and companies bend the knee. I used to say they need their own channel/streaming service but that won't be enough.
I guess I was wise to have a general rule of thumb to only watch stuff made in 2014 or prior (with few exceptions) and besides that I am reading a lot more now.
Being at a time of life where I feel I'd like to have a religion I can have faith in, I've been looking around at local churches wanting something conservative and traditional.
There aren't any.
One Catholic church that looked promising, but offered lgbtq inclusive workshops and meetings. Nope.
There are a few Greek and one Coptic Orthodox church but I feel that even if I liked it I wouldn't fit in with their parishioners. I wouldn't be comfortable just walking in the door and checking it out.
I saw this today "AP Lauds Pope Francis’s Crackdown on Latin Mass as Highlight of His 85th Year". What's wrong with latin mass (miracle, mystery, and authority), and why can't we have it anymore? I like latin mass, yet the Pope of all people has turned against it.
Western religions have become just another entertainment venue lacking in conviction, and lubricating the moral turpitudes we find ourselves wallowing in.
