"Eskimo" was not and never was a slur until someone on twitter decided it was. "Widely accepted as racist and offensive" is wishful thinking on the part of team blue.
Actually, it's from a Dene (I think) word meaning "eater of raw meat", and was always meant to be insulting. On the other hand, the Cree (the people to the south of the Dene, as the Dene are to the Inuit) call the Dene "Slaveys". Haven't asked around what the Blackfoot call the Cree, but it's probably nothing very polite, either.
Pretty sure the Blackfoot just call the Cree "Elitist Assholes" where I'm from haha. There is a Dene exclave by Calgary called the Tsuut'ina that the surrounding blackfoot called Sarcee for the longest time which is their own little racist moniker because the two groups have been at odds since basically the dawn of time.
