Thanks to wokeism increasing in gaming, I haven't really been interested in any new video games coming out.
The only games I have really played this year are mostly older Japanese games: such as the Yakuza games, Dragonball FighterZ and Naruto Shinobi Strikers.
The only western games I enjoyed recently are Hades and Slay the Spire.
Anyone buy anything fun during this Steam sale or have any good recommendations for games?
If you like new X-Com and old RPG-Tactics hybrids like Final Fantasy Tactics I can highly recommend Troubleshooter (steamlink).
It's a Korean dev's take on something halfway between those two genres. It has X-Com like combat, but with prebuilt rather than procedural levels (~100 missions so far) and much more RPG-like development for squad members, and it's very good fun for the price. My biggest gripe would be that the translation to english is servicable but has the same not-quite-natural feel of most Asian language translations, but given your other games I imagine you're used to that. And the story as it stands kinda ends abruptly early, although they still are releasing story missions by free DLC currently.
And on the other end of the spectrum, if you like a tense, high stakes multiplayer shooter, I also love me some Hunt: Showdown. The atmosphere is amazing, nothing quite like it for getting the blood pumping as you play cat and mouse in creaky old barns and old civil war forts full of millions of different firing angles that can end you in an instant. Plus the gunplay on those old single action revolvers is just chefkiss. The servers have struggled a bit under the growing playerbase this year though.
Troubleshooter looks really cool.
It seems Crytek made Hunt Showdown. I will look into it.
Thanks for your recommendations.
