Even if he was legitimately unarmed he still deserved to be shot. He violently fought police and then ignored all their warnings and reached into his car where they couldn't see what he was grabbing.

Maybe he had a knife, maybe he had a sub machine gun. Dumb rapist might as well have shot himself he forced police to do it.
