The police are the use of force by the State. Literally speaking: The monopoly of force being held by the State is represented in their armed forces, the police.

Of course the police are siding with The State, it's what they're literally there to do. More people need to realize this: "Protect and Serve"... The State. Protect and Serve The State, that's their job. If protecting you protects the State, bully for you. If it doesn't, it doesn't matter who is in the right or wrong, their job is to protect and serve the State first and foremost.
