It would be interesting to survey people who claim to be wrongfully convicted and serving life sentences whether they would rather be swiftly executed or serve life sentences. And re-do those surveys after 5, 10, 20, 30 years to see if/how perceptions change.
I think a certain amount of time after it seemed a certainty I was never leaving prison alive I'd just prefer they executed me.
