I realize there are a lot more moving pieces than could be explained by one coordinated conspiracy, but usually, when the Cathedral makes such a spectacle out of pillorying one of their own, it means there's something more going on. This on top of all the gaslighting Facebook "whistleblowers", and everyone including the Pope calling for more social media censorship is a little suspicious.
