Often the abuse was doled out by fellow inmates, eager to please officers in the jail.It is usually to try to force inmates to confess or snitch on other prisoners.In some cases the abuse is filmed so the victim can then be blackmailed into cooperating with his handlers.Or it is used to blackmail inmates -- if word of the assault becomes widely known, the victim slides down the rankings of the prison pecking order, reduced to a "petukh", or rooster, a derogatory term in Russia.--- I've heard conflicting anecdotes about how common prison rape is in the USA, and presumably Canada, but it is not acceptable and should not be joked about and needs to be stopped. No idea how often guards are complicit either in US/CA, but Russia does not surprise me, sadly. Another reason to worry about immigrants too, who are filling up our prisons, overwhelm Whites in numbers, are often guilty of more severe crimes (should not be housed together) and have fewer qualms about rape. More victims. People don't want to do anything about it because they're criminals and largely male. I think when you factor in prison rape to national statistics you might end up having more male victims of rape than females, can't remember, though the numbers were already close actually in some places, can't remember. But yeah, this is a horrible, horrible problem around the world and this guy is very brave exposing this. I hope he's granted asylum and that Russia and other countries start to address the issue.
