You have young kids who have never been away from home, suddenly completely cut off for a few months in basic training/boot camp. Then you get to your unit and often quickly realize your recruiters lied about everything, your MOS and day to day isn't anything like you thought it would be, etc. For example I signed as infantry even though I qualified for any job because I wanted to do cool shit. Got to my unit and they had just rotated back from Iraq with no deployments on the schedule. I spent 3 months picking up pine cones, cigarette butts, mopping and sweeping as a new private. I was able to get out of there, but many aren't as fortunate. Combine situations like that with some PTSD and you can see why suicide is so high. And yes the troons don't help the numbers either.
Coincidentally, Biden allowed troons back into the military.
Nothing to see here, please move along.
