I see the world now as if the parents let their stupid teenage kids run things to teach them a lesson, only the parents forgot to step in and correct the teen's mistake.
So the teen is posturing that all the bad things happening are, in fact, good. But they've clearly lost control of the situation. But their immature teen mind has no humility and will not admit they're wrong. They'll burn the world down to prove they weren't wrong, at this point.
But the teenager also feels that inner pull, telling them that mommy and daddy should be here to fix their mess and make it all better. But Mommy and Daddy aren't coming. So they throw a tantrum. When the parents check in on them, though, the teenager gets defensive, and then enraged when the parents point out the mess the teenager made. So the teen screams fuck you, mom and dad, and slams the door shut, blaming the rotten state of things on their no-good old fashioned parents.
So mom and dad retired. The teen is caught in their mess with nowhere to turn and no idea how to correct their mistakes--and they certainly won't admit they're wrong.
And then an Islamic horde storms their room, beheads the teen, and declares a Caliphite.
And that's where we're headed.
That’s a good way to look at it, except the teen never grows up. Daddy actually has to come and enforce discipline, no matter how much the teen moans or complains.
It explains why “dominant” women always secretly crave to be dominated. They want the love from a father that they never had, but mistakenly try to fulfill that with sex because they mistake sex for love. (and love for a feeling)
