Yeah, I'll give it another year or two and see what they come up with next. By then will have a list of 10 or 15 games I want that I can't play on anything else with Bayonetta 3 and the new Zelda game etc. If whatever they do next is kinda cool I might switch to Nintendo, otherwise, there will be a zillion of them on the used market at some point. I'm not even slightly a serious handheld gamer, but I swapped my DS I didn't like that much for a GBA that I modded earlier this year and it's perfect for me. Easy controls, lots of games I like, and I can be guaranteed it doesn't complain about not having an internet connection.
My guess is that we might see a 'pro' II in 1.5-3 years from now, but with the chip shortage, you might need to add another 3/4 year on to it. I dont think theres a need for a more powerful switch, the biggest upgrade would be a larger battery, or more efficient cpu. There are a bunch on ebay atm (10 pages when i looked). seems like 200-250 for a regular switch, and around 180 for a mini. did you have to mod it with a custom chip, or a romhack, or a china kart? and was it modded for new games or does it run faster or something else> No switch games complain about an internet connection, the sole exception is the 2k games which are DL required and have red bars on top (of the coverart). *its been a long time since ive looked at those, its actually a large white bar. ay. Every game without that can be enjoyed as soon as you pop it in your console ;) 👌
I just modded the screen to have a modern backlit LCD, glass lens on it, and replaced the case and buttons. Not all that hard, although I might do the speaker improvement mod later. I use an Everdrive X5 cartridge, it runs ROMs off an SD card. No hacks to the hardware required for that.
