New Zealand has the entire country under house arrest and for some reason they don’t get 1/10th of the hate Australia does.

There are multiple factors that I suspect contribute to this:

The population of NSW is significantly larger than the population of New Zealand.
NZ may be seen as a lost cause even since before COVID.
Large protests and the imagery that comes with them helps to generate publicity.
