Long story short, Gardner claims her office is "short staffed" which is likely true because all the experienced ADA's left shortly after she was elected. Scuttlebutt around the St. Louis Bar (as in lawyers not the drinking kind) is that she doesn't want to be seen prosecuting BLM looters who murdered a retired cop and is trying to get the elected state level Republicans to do it for her.
