But why would they ask a foreign government for funding?

None of this makes sense.

If it's China's weapon, why aren't the CCP paying?

If it's America's weapon, why did China cover it up? (saving face?)

If they were working together, how did any of this get out?

If the lab is working independently, why didn't China execute Zhengli?
