The weekend is here and with it comes another episode of real talk from Scrivonaut and Norayla: Splash Damage! From the original post over at half-KIA on you-know-where:
Tripwire Interactive President John Gibson resigned last week after he tweeted that he is pro-life. We discuss the groupthink pervasive in the video game industry that makes it impossible for anyone to tolerate anything but leftist worldviews, God of War: Ragnarok including a black character, activist Sam Maggs’ role in the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake, Kotaku complaining about Ubisoft hiring a white man, Evil Hat Productions saying only ideologues can play their game, and more.
You can find the episode here or on your favorite app. Thanks again for listening!
Standard Disclaimer: I'm not Scrivonaut and this isn't my podcast, I'm just a fan who feels the show deserves a signal boost
My hot takes:
Nobody should be fired because they believe life begins at conception.
GoW: Ragnarok looks to be stuck in the "encroaching wokeness" pit. Sadly, you know the wokies are going to flip their shit over the discussion point that there weren't black vikings or viking gods because the dude that voices Kratos is black. They just don't get it that an actor can play a part that's not of the same race when it's voice-over work and they don't need to force diversity into a game by shoehorning in black, gay, and trans characters.
I'm not touching the new KOTOR remake with a ten-foot-pole. Screw that wokeness-rework bullshit.
Kotaku can suck it when it comes to their opinions on hiring practices. The best thing for a company is to hire the right person for the job, not fill it with a diversity role who may not know their asshole from their elbow when it comes to business practices.
Evil Hat can get what they want: We'll happily stay away from their games, let them subsist on the largess of the lard-ist blue-checks. They'll change their tune when it hits their bottom line.
