Do you get the sense that most other people there are aghast at what's transpiring or are people afraid to talk about it? Do the journalists think they'll be spared for their allegiance? I guess I'm most surprised that almost all of your premiers are going along with this -- is it Queensland that isn't playing ball? Do you have any rights to call for recall elections? When are your next elections? For me, over the last 2 years or so, I've also had to have a reckoning with media that I had previously believed was, if not unbiased, at least honest -- and which clearly is not lol. And then having to question everything down to the roots that I've been led to believe, i.e. if they can't tell the truth about xyz, there's no reason to trust they were ever telling the truth about abc.
I'll try to tackle this as best I can, so bear with me...
First question is hard to answer. From the sample size I have, I think, either people here are, for the most part, genuinely utterly terrified of the virus (thanks, media), or they're lying, or those that are not are afraid to speak out. I know, for my part, that if I speak out on non-anonymous social media, I'll lose many, many friends. I'm yet to see any of the randos I know on there call any of this out. At all. Including my "leftist" friends who call themselves "activists", lol.
Some prominent Aussies HAVE, however, spoken out. See: Tony Abbott, Andrew Bogut (basketball), James Troisi (soccer), the Million Dollar Bogan/Daniel Hayes, who is responsible for that video of hotel quarantine hell I uploaded the other day, and finally Craig Kelly, Clive Palmer and George Christensen, who are all federal politicians.
We also have our little LockdownSkepticismAU Reddit Sub, where I find most of my likeminded fellow Aussies, and I think there's a lot of us amongst the bigger LockdownSkep/NNN crowd. So we're out there, but I would have to say we seem to be massively outnumbered, for now. There have been some pretty big protests, though, despite the protests being "banned", and each time I see them they are growing in number, and giving less ground to TBTB, so that's something.
For your third question: the premiers are the main problem, my dude. Like, they're worse than the federal government, on all counts. There is no resistance from them. They are quite literally my worst enemy, rn. THEY are the ones making the federal government come up with even more fascist shit than they might otherwise (not to let Scotty off the hook. The man is as much of an incompetent fascist as Gladys).
If you mean, is Qld resisting the push towards fascism? Fuck no. Palace-chook is one of the worst. If by "playing ball" you mean, making things worse by refusing to comply with the "national roadmap", and therefore keeping us in perpetual lockdown for even longer? Then yes, you would be right.
All the premiers and chief ministers are fucking awful. Literally every single one. McGowan (WA) and Andrews (Vic) are on another level of fucked, though. But I have serious problems with the response of every single state and territory, including the one I'm stuck in. Generally speaking, though, the Labor states have been much, much worse than the LNP ones, so... Take that as you will.
I have much, much more to say, and hopefully some answers to the rest of your questions. I'll get back to you after I finish work, ha.
for the love of dog, get them to make a lifeboat ASAP
Why would you be "friends" with those people in the first place? They're obviously not your actual friends. WTF? What exactly is the appeal in having fake friends?
