When I was in University the school had many student organizations. But only one ever got the massive financial support and marketing paid for by the university, and not having it count against their budget. And that was the lgbt student organization. For an org that had roughly 20-30 members they got more financing and more dedicated spaces on campus than orgs of similar size or larger, including ones that were tied to an actual major. No other orgs had constant poster put up on campus by the university, and no other group got fliers put into every dorm room on move in day. It was very odd.
