If you have any interest in shooting clays (or bird hunting) get a field barrel version then pick up a short barrel. Assuming a removable barrel like a Mossberg, the security barrel (18.5", no choke) is much cheaper to add (and easier to find) than the longer barrel, but the guns new cost about the same with either barrel.

I've got a 100 years worth of field guns including a fairly rare Ithaca SxS goose gun with both barrels being 30" full choke barrels.
30" full choke.
For taking down satellites, I imagine.
