Well, humans are, scientifically, primates. And still apes. There's no where along the line where humans became something magically different. Taking the technological path of survival doesn't mean humans aren't still apes. They're just techno-apes, specialized in technology the exact same way cheetahs are cats that specialized in sprint-hunting or how giant pandas are just bears that are specialized in bamboo harvesting. And the common ancestor of humans, bonobos, "common" chimps and gorillas probably used tools and ate meat, at least on an opportunistic basis.
well, havent you yet seen selfie taken by monkey after it stole tourist camera (happened while back) on seriousness all primates can use tools, canines can do,so do some bird species,and pretty much all specie types on land; major difference on humans is that some can create tools (majorly because there is need)
There was also a study that showed young primates will go for toys targeted for their 'gender'. Plush animals and dolls were preferred by females and males went for the cars and shit.
