I said no defense of them, only that some of us want to engage with them instead of going "LUL STORMFAGS XD", because their dialogue only gets stronger in the dark and perhaps there is some common ground we have to compromise on.

That's not a strawman. Its a word swap. Its comparing your arguments validity by taking the variable (the labels) and changing them while keeping the constant the same. There was no further attacking of your argument, as it demonstrated the point I was making. The similarity between your line of reasoning and theirs.
